Basement Pub Ideas

Basement Pub Ideas

A finished basement can be an ideal place to build an in-home pub for entertaining guests. A basement pub provides an out-of-the-way location with plenty of room for creating a space with all the amenities of a public pub. Use your basement pub to host parties that can give your guests space to mingle, as well as activities to enjoy as you share a few drinks. Does this Spark an idea?

The Bar

Build a step-up platform to showcase the bar area of your basement pub. Use old wood to enhance the cozy atmosphere, and place a few small tables on a platform where guests who want to relax away from the activities can sit for snacks or a drink. Place stools in front of the bar and add liquor display shelves behind the bar. Place a mirror behind the recessed alcohol display, with colored lights built in and focused on the bottles to give them a warm, colorful appearance. Keep the lighting on this platform soft so the focus remains on the colored alcohol display.

Pub Decor

Hang shelves and line them with old collectible beer cans or wine or whiskey bottles. Neon signs advertising various alcoholic beverages can also enhance the pub atmosphere.

Entertainment

Add two or three dart boards to a corner of the basement, as well as a pool table. Darts and pool are featured in most pubs and can add a real pub feel to your basement. Add a pinball or shuffleboard game to expand the entertainment choices. A big screen TV is another attraction you might want to add, especially if you have a lot of sports fans among your friends.

Dancing

Build a dance floor in an out-of-the-way corner of your basement with a sound system located nearby. Hang a disco ball or other dance-floor lighting above the dance floor. Keep the dance floor small to fit with the pub theme, as pubs are typically more relaxed than nightclubs or other types of bars.
