How to Make a Candy Table for Your Wedding

How to Make a Candy Table for Your Wedding

Candy buffets and candy tables are a fun way to let guests create their own favors full of classic penny candies, traditional candy-coated almonds in the wedding colors and a variety of candies that are favorites of the couple getting married. Jars, bowls, vases and other vessels decorated with whimsical signs, and displayed on a table with small centerpieces or table scatters, create a focal point at the reception and draw guests to the buffet. Using vessels that can be repurposed after the reception also helps keep costs down, as does buying candy and goody bags or boxes in bulk.

Instructions

    1

Select a color palette for your candies. Choose colors that match, coordinate with or complement your wedding palette. Add pops of color to a classic black and white palette by using gumballs, jelly beans and other brightly-colored candies. Candy-coated almonds or nuts, chocolate-covered candies and jelly beans or gum drops can be customized with your colors or purchased in an assortment.

    2

Order or purchase candies in your chosen colors. Buying candy in bulk will cut costs, but may require an advance purchase. Custom prints or colors for your candies will also require more time for processing and shipping.

    3

Purchase jars, vases and other vessels for your candies. The types and amounts of candies you select will determine the best styles and sizes of jars. Classic gallon jars and apothecary jars are popular options for a candy table or buffet, because the clear glass and simple shapes can be decorated in any style. Purchase scoops, tongs and spoons for candy according to type.

    4

Design signs for each candy or type of candy. Feature your colors, monogram or theme in each sign, or use simple placards backed with patterned scrapbook paper. Add ribbon, cutouts and other embellishments for each sign or group of signs, or simply tie ribbon around the base of each jar and place the placard at the bow.

    5

Decorate the candy table itself, uniting the colors of the candies and ribbons with a simple tablecloth. A larger sign explaining the candy buffet idea and welcoming guests to help themselves, coupled with baskets of goody bags or small boxes, requires minimal work beyond the initial setup.
