How to Create a Sports Bar at Home

Going out to a sports bar to watch your favorite team can be a great way to enjoy the game, not to mention meet up with fellow fans. However, going out for every game can become expensive season after season. With a few alterations to your home, you will never want to leave when your favorite team is playing. Here is how to create a sports bar at home.

Instructions

    1

Pick which room you will turn into a sports bar. Most likely, the best options for this will be a furnished basement or living room that you'll only use for watching sports. Be sure that this room has plenty of space for television sets, chairs or stools and a counter.

    2

If there is carpet in the room, remove it before turning the room into a sports bar. Your sports bar will most likely get messy from time to time, including spilled food and drinks. Eliminating carpet will make cleaning up much easier.

    3

Go to your local electronics or outlet store and buy some television sets. To have a true sports bar at home, you'll probably need to have at least four TVs in the room. I would recommend buying one larger set, perhaps a 40 inch TV, and three 19 inch TVs. You should also buy plenty of cable splitters or boxes if you need them as well as chords.

    4

Buy two mini-fridges from a local retailer or department store. Stores such as Target and Wal-Mart offer mini-fridges for a relatively low price.

    5

Place the largest TV in a place that will make it easy to view from almost anywhere in the room. This will be the TV that will show the most important games. Then, take the smaller sets and place them in the corners of your new sports bar. If possible, anchor the sets on the walls of the room so that they can be more easily seen.

    6

Contact your local cable or satellite company and purchase the best sports package possible. Many companies will allow home customers to buy the same packages offered to bars. This is the best way to ensure that your home sports bar will be able to show every sports game you wish to see.

    7

Build or buy a counter and place it on a side wall in your room. Make sure that the counter has at least one shelf and room for your two mini-fridges. Use the shelf to place any liquor that you wish to buy for your home sports bar.

    8

In one of the mini-fridges, place any bottled beverages that you wish to keep cold. This could include both beer and soda. Use your other mini fridge as a way to dispense draft beer. Known by most as a Kegerator, this simple device is a must for any sports bar in your home.

    9

Place a few small tables in your sports bar. You probably won't have more than a handful of people over at your house at one time so you'll only need two or three of these tables. Buy stools as chairs and put them around the tables. Stools are cheaper than chairs and allow you and your friends to more easily see all of the TVs in the room.

    10

Go online and search for cheap arcade games. You could also find dart boards and pool tables online if you wish to have those instead. Placing these objects in the room will allow you and your friends to enjoy sporting events as well as play some games of your own.

    11

Decorate the room with an assortment of sports apparel. For example, you could search online and find lamps that have your favorite teams' logos on them as well as banners and flags. Also, try to find paper plates, utensils and cups with team colors and logos on them.
