How to Choose Console Tables

For many, choosing a console table is important for not only looks but also function. When shopping for a table, all of the selections and styles can seem overwhelming but once you narrow down what you like, picking a table will feel easier. When out shopping for a console table, there are a few things to think about to help you decide which would fit best in your home. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Measure the area where the console table will go to help you narrow down possible sizes. Console tables may be used to display dcor or to lay down a wallet and car keys after coming in the house.

    2

Compare styles of console tables that offer function, but are minimal in size if you are placing it in a smaller entryway or hallway. Half-moon tables butt right against the wall with a straight edge and feature a rounded front edge. This type of table is ideal for homes with small children, as there are no sharp corners that protrude.

    3

Inspect console tables to see if they offer additional storage in the form of a drawer or shelves underneath the tabletop. Here you can store car keys, unread books, magazines or mail as you come inside. Avoid cluttering up the table with odds and ends items, so look for plenty of storage.

    4

Match a console table's wood color to the rest of the homes dcor. Whether you are looking for a finished material or solid wood, look for a style that blends in for a cohesive look. If you want the table to be a statement piece in the entry or hallway, look for a table in a colored finish that complements the wall paint.

    5

Jostle the table with your hand to make sure it is sturdy, even if you want to use it for aesthetic purposes in a room. Check that the legs are sturdy and dont wobble, and look to see if there are mounting brackets that secure the table to the wall to avoid it from moving around if you have small children.
