How to Arrange a Room With a Crib

How to Arrange a Room With a Crib

If you have a little one on the way, you are probably excited to begin preparing your child's nursery. While you may be adding lots of decorative details such as photographs and stuffed animals, you need to start with the layout of the furniture. Once you have the foundation of an ideal arrangement focused on both safety and decor, you can begin embellishing with lots of cute baby accessories. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Scan the room for elements such as windows, heaters and air conditioners that could pose a safety concern.

    2

Choose a spot for the crib that is away from any of these safety hazards. If the setup of your room allows, choose a spot that is both close to the nursery door for late-night visits and also in an area that is away from direct sunlight. Set up the crib in this area.

    3

Establish a focal point of the nursery, which could be a window, the crib or a mural.

    4

Add additional furniture such as a changing table and glider to the room, keeping at least 22 inches of free space around the crib. Spread the furniture out so that the larger pieces are staggered throughout the room and they complement your focal point.

    5

Add photos, stuffed animals, shelves, murals or other decorative details to the room. Do not hang anything directly above the crib, as it could pose a safety risk. Do try to hang something interesting in an area where the child can look out the crib and see it, especially as he or she gets older.
