Floral Centerpiece Idea

Floral Centerpiece Idea

Floral centerpieces add beauty and charm to any table. You can make your own centerpieces with a vintage water pitcher, a small fish bowl, or a crystal vase. Select flowers of a similar size to group together for your centerpiece, or showcase one type of flower for a simple design. Does this Spark an idea?

Vintage Floral Centerpiece

Fill a vintage ceramic water pitcher with tall but simple flowers like peonies or sprigs of lavender in bloom. The water pitcher is tall, so it can handle the extra height of taller flowers. This type of floral centerpiece works well on a banquet table rather than a dinner table where people need to see around the centerpiece to talk to each other. You can also select gerbera daisies, iris, or daylilies for a medium-tall centerpiece that will command respect on a banquet table, but will also allow for conversation during dinner. Iris, daisies, and daylilies come in a profusion of colors and would be perfect in a water pitcher centerpiece. The mouth of the pitcher is narrow and will hold the medium-tall flowers in place, but you may need to use floral foam to hold the tallest flowers. Cut a piece of foam, fit it into the pitcher, and then insert the flowers into the foam.

Petite Centerpieces

Mound rosebuds in a small, round glass bowl like a fish bowl for a petite floral centerpiece perfect for a table for two. Fill the glass bowl with pearls or pearlescent marbles to hide the stems and to add a bit of additional interest. Trim the stems of the rosebuds so that they are roughly even with the top of the bowl. It's easier if you begin placing the flowers around the perimeter, and then build inwards to form a mound. The marbles will hold the stems in place as you work your rows to the center. Don't forget to add water.

Oversized Centerpieces

Welcome guests into your home with an over-sized floral centerpiece in the foyer or entryway. Gladiolas, long-stemmed roses, or Asiatic lilies work beautifully together on an entry table in the center of your foyer or placed on a table in front of a wall mirror. Place floral foam in the base of an opaque vase or use glass marbles to hold the stems in a sparkling crystal vase.

Elegant Centerpieces

Use Japanese magnolias or cherry blossoms in a clear glass vase for an elegant floral centerpiece. Select branches with blossoms along the length. You'll need only two or three branches to make a dramatic impact.
