How Should I Rearrange My Baby's Dresser?

How Should I Rearrange My Baby's Dresser?

A baby tends to go through a lot of different clothing throughout the day. You'll probably find yourself rearranging your baby's dresser a few weeks after she is born when you realize which clothing is frequently used. Before the baby arrives, the clothing is washed, folded and organized in the dresser according to size or type. Once the baby arrives and you develop a routine, you'll be more aware of which clothing should go where, based on need and use.

Instructions

    1

Make a list of all the clothing already in the dresser. This will help you decide what type of clothing should go in which drawer. Figure out which clothing is more frequently used, such as onesies and pajamas. Categorize the clothing into groups, according to which drawer it will be placed into.

    2

Remove all the clothing from the dresser and use the list to organize the items by drawer. Create piles of clothing by placing onesies and pajamas together; pants, shirts or shorts together; and outfits together. Purchase drawer organizers for small items such as socks, bibs or diaper pins.

    3

Place the organizers in the top drawer of the dresser and add the smaller items to the basket or bin. Place burp cloths or bibs in this drawer for easy access. Also put onesies and pajamas in the first drawer. Organize onesies by color and length of sleeve. Organize pajamas by the warmth of the material, so it's easier to grab one quickly depending on the temperature. Items in the top drawer will be used most often and should be kept together.

    4

Fill the second drawer with pants, shirts and shorts. Organize pants according to style or color. Organize shirts according to sleeve length or style.

    5

Organize the third drawer with outfits. Place extra blankets or burp cloths in this drawer as well. If there is a fourth drawer, use it for clothing that the baby has outgrown. Once the drawer is full, transfer the clothing to a storage tote or dispose of it by donating or selling.
