Baby Hamper Gifts

Baby Hamper Gifts

Give a baby hamper as a gift in itself, or stuff a hamper with useful items. Hampers are typically known as a clothes hamper in which you deposit dirty clothes. With babies, however, a hamper can be made from a variety of materials and used in more ways than just a place to put dirty clothes.

Wicker Hamper

Paint a design to match baby's room on a wicker hamper. Either paint a picture on the top of the hamper or stencil a border along the top edge. Wicker hampers are built with a sturdy wooden frame and will withstand years of use. Consider placing a smaller hamper inside a larger one as a gift. Moms can set the two hampers where they are most convenient in baby's room. One can hold dirty clothes and the other can be used to store extra bedding or even packages of diapers and wipes.

Folding Fabric Hampers

Folding fabric or canvas clothes hampers come in several styles. A single, double or triple hamper is available in department or discount stores. Choose a design that fits the theme of the baby's room or use a little creativity to paint, glue or stitch some nursery rhyme or popular cartoon figures onto the cloth hamper. Wrap the folding hamper as it lies flat, or use the colorful hamper as a wrapping for other gifts. A baby bathtub or a folding play mat will fit nicely inside most sized hampers.

Hanging Hampers

Hanging hampers save floor space in a room. Closet organizers with compartments to hold blankets, sweaters or shoes will provide much-needed storage space to keep diapers, wipes and extra clothing close to the changing table. Use a ceiling hook to hang the organizer close to the baby's crib or changing table. Place a cloth or wicker basket in the bottom section of the organizer to hold dirty clothes. Inexpensive over-the-door hamper bags can hang on a room or closet door, or can hang from the edge of a changing table or baby crib. Collapsible laundry basket bags are also inexpensive, and these hamper-sized mesh bags are also washable. For a hamper filler, add baby laundry soap and dryer sheets or baby clothes hangers to the hamper gift.

Hidden Hampers

A footstool-type hamper with a lid that opens or drawers that pull out can disguise the hamper as a piece of furniture, as well as providing an extra place for mom to sit or to put her feet up while rocking baby. Bookshelves work well to place wicker, cloth or wooden baskets for a variety of storage needs. Place some baby items inside the footstool or some of the baskets of the bookshelf for a thoughtful storage and baby necessities gift.
