How to Create an Access Data Page Entry Only

Data pages are Microsoft Access's version of a dynamic Web page. You can create data pages in Access 2003 and earlier. If users are accessing your database through a data access page, you may want to add certain restrictions, such as creating an entry only data page. This will prevent users from editing or deleting current data in your Access database. By changing a few settings, you can easily turn a data page into an entry only data page in Microsoft Access.

Instructions

    1

Open an existing Microsoft Access database. If you create a new database, ensure you have at least one table created for the data page to link to.

    2

Click "Pages" under the "Objects" or main database screen.

    3

Press "New" to create a new data page.

    4

Choose how to create your data page. Options include Design View, Existing Web page, Page Wizard and AutoPage: Columnar.

The two quickest methods are Page Wizard and AutoPage: Columnar. AutoPage: Columnar is considered to be the easiest way of creating data entry only pages. Design View allows you to create a data page from a blank template. You can edit any data page at any time through Design View.

    5

Choose the table or query your data page is based on. Press "OK."

Depending on the option you chose in Step 4, either follow the prompts to create a new data page or begin adding component from the toolbar and field list in Design View. After you have created a data page, continue to Step 6.

    6

Place your data page in Design View. Select the "View" menu and choose "Design View."

    7

Go to "View" and select "Properties" to view the data page's properties.

    8

Go to "Edit" and choose "Select Page."

    9

    Select the "Data" tab.

    10

Change the "DataEntry" property to "True."

    11

Go to "View" and select "Page View." Save your changes by going to "File" and selecting "Save."
