How to Set a Table for Breakfast

Nutritionists say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So, if that's the case, why not make the overall dining experience pleasant , whether just for you or for a whole crowd. A few small decorative changes, will introduce your family to elegant breakfast dining. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Dress up your breakfast digs up a bit if you are dining alone. Instead of using that old and tired cereal bowl that has chips on the exterior and scratches on the interior, reach for some of your finer china. Just a simple change, can make a difference and lift the spirits. And, instead of grabbing a paper towel to wipe your mouth; use a cloth napkin; it also has a better impact on the environment by making less waste. While you're at it, add a place mat and a pretty vase with a fresh flower and see how much better you feel.

    2

Get creative if you plan to invite friends or family over for breakfast. There are many ways to decorate a breakfast table. First, come up with a theme. You can base your dcor on season, color, or add some ethnic flair. If you choose a seasonal theme, keep in mind, you don't have to go with the current season. In winter, you can set the table with a tropical motif. For example, find a colorful glass bowl and fill it with water. Place some whole lemons at the bottom and then float some flower petals on top. Find some bright-colored drinking glasses and placemats; and hand out leis.

    3

Choose a cultural theme. How about Mexican? You can match the food to the dcor and also serve items such as huevos rancheros or breakfast burritos. For table setting, find a sombrero and place it in the middle of the table and fill it with fruit. Use some pottery plates to serve your entre. Add a large wooden bowl and fill with your favorite muffins or breads.

    4

Create a country table setting. Instead of serving your beverages in traditional glasses, choose jelly or mason jars. Find some napkin rings that are in the shapes of animals such as roosters and cows. Create a display of wildflowers in the middle of the table for some color and place them in a watering can instead of a traditional vase.

    5

Place the napkin on the left side of the setting with a luncheon or dinner fork to the right of it. Place a luncheon-sized place to the right of the fork and in the middle of the setting. Place a cereal bowl on top of the plate. Place the knife to the right of the bowl and plate and then add a spoon. A cup and saucer set should be placed above the spoon and a little off to the right. The juice or water glass should be placed above the knife. And finally, back by the napkin on the left side, place a small bread and butter plate above the napkin and fork and set down a small butter knife across the plate, towards the top part of the plate parallel to the table.
