How to Clean Room Tables

How to Clean Room Tables

How you clean a room table depends on the material used to make the table. Cheaper room tables are easier to clean because they are made out of materials that don't get ruined by chemicals. Glass and quality wood tables need to be cleaned a little more carefully. Your table will only get clean with the right product, so choose wisely to prevent damage and maximize your results.

Instructions

    1

Put on gloves. This will protect your skin from chemicals in cleaners and keep your hands from drying out and becoming chapped.

    2

Match your cleaning solution to the material of your table. Be sure to read every cleaning product and note what its recommended use is. Use wood oil for the final stage of cleaning an expensive wood table.

    3

Use a large car-cleaning sponge. These are non-abrasive so you won't scratch your table. The larger size will cut your cleaning time in half because you will be able to cover more of the surface in less time. Use the sponge for any table that is not real wood or glass.

    4

Add a little water to your cleaning solution if it is required. Use a wide-mouth bucket and some warm water. Use these solutions on tables that are plastic or synthetic material. Dip the large sponge in the bucket. Squeeze out the excess and wipe the table surface in a circular motion. Place a trash can under while you wipe to catch any crumbs or particles. Go back over your table with a clean cloth to dry it off.

    5

Spray the solution directly on the table if you are using a special wood cleaner. Do this in small sections. Use a dry rag for the wood cleaner. Buff the table until it shines. Add some wood protector oil to seal it and keep the wood looking beautiful. Use a dry cloth to go over the oil until the rag no longer contains any of the solution. Use a small circular motion to massage the oil in.

    6

Spray glass cleaner on the table in small sections. Use newsprint to clean marks and finger prints. Simply use the paper like you would a rag. Keep moving the paper back and forth until you do not see any streak marks.
