How to Decorate a Buffet Table for Christmas

Christmas time brings families and friends close together. People from all over the world set up Christmas trees, decorate with Christmas lights, send out Christmas cards and have Christmas feasts. Families coming together to share in food and celebration is an old tradition. Another old tradition is decorating the table with beautiful Christmas decor. It adds a festive holiday touch to the meal. A Christmas buffet table should be full of holiday splendor. Create the perfect buffet by using simple but elegant materials and delicious food. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Choose a color palette. Christmas is commonly associated with the colors red, green, gold, blue, white and silver. Choose two to three colors to use on the buffet table. These colors will determine the color of the tablecloths, napkins, candles and other decor you plan on using.

    2

Put a heavy, cloth tablecloth over a long, rectangular or oval table. A buffet table should be long enough for the guests to line up at and easily reach all the food on the table. Use a dark colored tablecloth, since you can add lighter colored accents to the top. A dark tablecloth will also cover up stains from spoons and accidental spills.

    3

Use decorative serving dishes for the food. Tall platters, spiral stands, cake platters, large bowls and other unique serving dishes are perfect for buffets. Adding a height dimension to the buffet makes the table look more impressive. You may consider purchasing an ice sculpture to add the the center of the table. An angel or Christmas tree is appropriate to a Christmas theme.

    4

Drape some tulle along the edges of the table. Wrap white Christmas lights in with the tulle to create a dramatic effect. Use safety pins to pin the tulle to the tablecloth.

    5

Add candles to the buffet table. Place them in glass candle holders. Set the candles on a higher level and beside a food platter.

    6

Use Christmas decor such as figurines, stuffed toys or Christmas ornaments to lay in the empty areas of the buffet table. Large glass containers filled with ornaments or pine cones add a decorative touch.

    7

Wrap the eating utensils in a cloth napkin and tie with a satin ribbon. Add small jingle bells to the ribbon for an extra festive touch.
