How to Keep Conference Rooms Clean

How to Keep Conference Rooms Clean

Because the conference room is a public room and is a place where people are preoccupied with meetings or projects, the room can be a chore to clean. You can organize the furnishings and provide a few organizational accessories which will encourage the users of the room to clean up after themselves. Passive efforts on your part will keep the conference room cleaner for a longer period of time, reducing your time and effort with the job.

Instructions

    1

Clean the room before it is used. Vacuum the carpeting, wipe the tables, and straighten the chairs. Wash the windows and dust the tables. Users of the room will be less likely to leave the room unkempt if the room was tidy before use.

    2

Provide unobtrusive accessories that will subtly suggest that users clean up after themselves. Place dust wipes in an attractive box on the refreshment table. Set waste receptacles in strategic places around the room, such as in high-traffic aisles or in the corners near the heavily-used conference tables. Purchase taller waste receptacles, so users will not have to bend over to dispose of waste.

    3

Organize the furniture to contain messes to one area of the room. Place the refreshments table closer to the door. Move the waste receptacle to stand between the door and the refreshment table.

    4

Replace straight-legged chairs with chairs with caster wheels. Users will be more likely to push in their chairs when they have finished using them.

    5

Change the trash regularly. Users will be less inclined to leave litter on tables and chairs if the waste receptacles are tidy and accessible. Never allow food waste to sit in the trash for extended periods of time.

    6

Provide racks for magazines, newspapers, and brochures.

    7

Provide bright and cheery lighting. A clean, neat, attractive room will inspire users to maintain a cheery environment.

    8

Remove clutter and accessories that encourage clutter. Pens, pencils, paperclips, and other small office supplies fill the tables and create messes. Do not give users opportunity to dump their used office supplies on the tables. Keep the room as clean and uncluttered as possible.

    9

Write a pleasant reminder about conference room clean-up duties, and hang the notice in a frame on the back of the door or above the refreshment table.
