How to Decorate Tables for a Missions Dinner At Church

How to Decorate Tables for a Missions Dinner At Church

Decorating the tables at a mission dinner is completely up to the organizer. She should take into consideration how extravagant -- or plain -- the guests expect the occasion to be, as well as how much the church can afford to spend on the dinner. However, even spending only a little can create beautifully decorated tables if the organizer is creative and resourceful, such as asking other participants for materials that the church doesn't have and asking for their input for ideas.

Instructions

    1

Choose a color theme for the dinner. If there is no obviously appropriate color, consider choosing based on what the church already owns in the way of table cloths, place mats and table runners. To save money, you can purchase patterned paper from party stores. Ensure your place mats and runners complement the colors of your table cloths.

    2

Light every table with a candle. If your church doesn't already have a supply, buy candles of your choice that match the color theme.

    3

Add an arrangement of flowers to every table. The type of flowers you use will depend on the time of year. If possible, cut flowers from your own garden or that of another attendee. Keep the centerpiece small, to allow guests to see each other across the table. Make the flower arrangement more elaborate on the head table, if there is one.

    4

Use additional decorations such as a sprinkling of confetti, ribbons on the table legs and chairs, and other ornaments, as you see appropriate. Consider designating the decoration of each table to a different participant, if you are not very creatively-minded. This will allow others to feel more involved in the planning of the mission dinner.
