Round Buffet Table Ideas

Round Buffet Table Ideas

A round buffet table allows for a large and attractive buffet display with good traffic flow and easy access for a large number of guests. Integral to a lovely buffet is not only the food, but the presentation of the food as well. It should be presented on attractive serving platters that are embellished by an elegant table surface and luxurious decoration in the form of flowers or other themed flourish. Does this Spark an idea?

Create Height and Levels

Designing your round buffet table with varying heights and placing dishes on risers can increase the available surface space for dishes as well as create the appearance of an abundant buffet, which is really the point of this style of entertaining. Use overturned boxes, crates, sturdy containers or even bricks draped in linens for your risers. Select serving dishes with presence and style at varying heights and of a blend of textures, such as compotes, cake plates and baskets. They don't necessarily need to match, but they should coordinate with one another.

Table Decoration

Flowers are a classic buffet table centerpiece. Whether a large arrangement is centered on the table on a riser or multiple small, low arrangements are scattered between the dishes, they are an elegant, fresh touch for any table. When using flowers, choose those flowers and greens that do not have a heavy fragrance so that they will not compete with the aroma of the food. Tall candle sticks that are stable are also a dramatic addition to a buffet table. If flowers are not to your liking, consider using silver or porcelain bowls overflowing with stunning colored fruits and/or nuts in the style of an old world painting. A sculpture in porcelain or a large elegant glass or china vase can also serve as a sophisticated centerpiece even without flowers. With a buffet, it is best to use table linens with an underpad to protect the finish of fine wood from acidic food and dropped utensils. Also, when placing hot vessels or trays onto the buffet, always use a trivet to protect the surface from heat damage.

Group Like Items for Flow

Organize your round buffet with the main course either in the middle of the table or positioned at what would be considered the front of the table when approaching the buffet. This will show off the main part of the meal while side dishes, salads, breads and condiments can sweep around the table in sections. To conserve space on a small, round buffet table set utensils and plates on a separate surface located near the buffet table, such as a sideboard or small table.
