How to Decorate a Buffet Table With Accent Pieces

How to Decorate a Buffet Table With Accent Pieces

Whether putting together a buffet table for a wedding, holiday party or other special event such as a birthday or anniversary party, it is important to create a table that looks visually pleasing as well as appetizing. While you do not want to cover the table in various decor pieces, use items that complement the event you are throwing, such as evergreen branches for a Christmas party, pumpkin candles for a Halloween celebration or pacifiers for a baby shower. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Cover the table with a tablecloth, or go for more creative options such as a plethora of brightly colored napkins, lots of scrap fabric, old wallpaper or other applicable table coverings. Arrange individual pieces, such as different napkins, as desired. If using napkins, another option is to collect a variety of napkins that feature different designs, patterns and colors, or napkins for every holiday and event, such as Thanksgiving and graduation.

    2

Use decor pieces that complement the season or event. For example, if setting up a buffet table for a fall wedding or other fall-themed event, use pine cones, different-colored leaves, dry, colored corn on the cob, small gourds and pumpkins, and acorns. If decorating the table for an Easter event, use brightly colored eggs, small bunny and chick figurines, fresh flowers and plush rabbits to decorate the table. Decorations used for a birthday celebration should feature the person's favorite colors as well as favorite decor items if applicable.

    3

Add lighting accents so guests can better see the food. Set up candles of different shapes and sizes or stick to one type of candle only, or use a few oil lamps for a sophisticated-yet-rustic touch. Thread strings of lights through the dishes so long as it is not a fire hazard, or attach light strings around the perimeter of the table.

    4

Set up another table for holding plates, dinner napkins, flatware and glasses/mugs to make more room for your accent pieces.
